Significant in its ability to remain intact as downtown Phoenix grew around it, Oakland neighborhood’s working class roots are showcased in Bungalow and Spanish Colonial Revival houses. Oakland neighborhood resident’s strong ties with the Southern Pacific Railroad and other industrial concerns were important to the valley’s economic growth.
